简单来说，认准这些有名气、有口碑的皮革厂，相比在文案中大吹特吹质感多么好成本多么高、却对到底用的什么皮含糊其辞的产品，明显会更稳一点。

这家百年皮厂的名气实在太大了，几乎所有入坑的朋友都知道。Horween的客户不要太多，基本上只要是叫得上名字的皮鞋品牌都用过他们的皮（当然国内一些叫不上名字的牌子也在用）：Wesco、White's、Viberg、Alden、Wolverine、Chippewa、Clinch……不要太多。

产品线很广，包含大家熟悉的CXL、马臀、Latigo在内，一共有50多种皮革了。。。

全部介绍是不可能的，而且我也懂不了那么多，只能讲讲熟悉的：

工装上经常看到的皮，特点是油脂丰富，看着光亮，穿久了出茶芯patina，自修复性强。这是一种复合鞣制的全粒面皮，先铬鞣再植鞣，Horween介绍总共需要28个工作日鞣制完成。一般来说铬鞣的皮比较柔软，耐用；植鞣的皮比较硬，会产生好看的patina效果。CXL综合了铬鞣和植鞣的优点。

因为过于常见，所以CXL的争议很大，有人说它过誉了，有人说是情怀，有人说易松面，还有人甚至说它是二层修面。。。 其中大部分是商家逐利行为 ：觉得CXL太常见没得吹价格透明卖不了高价，所以就踩一下CXL，去吹大家不了解的、利润高的皮。

我只能说，以官网说法为准吧，霍尔文已经说CXL是全粒面了，而且是一种用秘制配方鞣制了100多年、相当成熟的皮种，口碑在那里，不然双W、Viberg、Alden他们也不会一直在用。

我个人觉得CXL是一种综合性能不错，很适合工装旧化效果的皮，除了延展性大导致长期使用会被拉伸这种“缺点”外，综合性能是要比那些名不见经传的高价皮更好的。由于CXL大家都在用，出货量很大，所以总有幸存者偏差，由此还产生了国内CXL不如国外CXL的说法，让人比较无语。。。详细可以参考之前写的皮革松面文章，这里面的影响因素很多，不能简单的错误归因国内不如国外。

CXL马皮牛皮都有，而且CXL马皮还会分前身皮（horsefront）和长条皮（Strip）。Aero喜欢用CXL马前身皮做皮衣。而长条皮因为靠近马屁股，一般来说密度高，生长纹少，拿来做鞋质感不错。

H马臀被誉为皮革中的钻石，地位很高。由于物以稀而贵，所以很多人会对此产生信仰，即便没买过也喜欢把它挂在嘴边以凸显自己博学强知，甚至把它吹上天。其实说白了这就是一种很亮、密度很高、褶皱很特别的皮，以及加工繁琐、鞣制时间长，除此之外并没有太多值得吹的地方了。此外马臀很怕水，下雨最好别穿。

再就是个人觉得H马臀和其他马臀（日本新禧、小川、宫内，英国Clayton，意大利马臀等等）是两种东西，鞋子的话能买H马臀就买H马臀。

与CXL一样也是复合鞣制的全粒面皮，但我个人感觉Latigo油脂没有CXL那么丰富，再就是会比CXL更硬一点。此外，不同颜色的Latigo，皮革性质也有所不同，不太好一概而论。比如Moc色的Latigo，看着就是皮革原色，密度相当大，同时也比较硬。

而Natural色的Latigo看起来是比原色皮更浅的颜色，呈现的却是柔软的质感。

很有趣的一种皮，用的是皮革的肉面，经过各种处理后上了一层蜡。因为蜡并不会附着的很牢固，所以一点磕碰剐蹭就会露出皮的底色，形成风味很浓的旧化效果，斑驳且粗犷。这是种令人爱憎分明的皮，喜欢的人会很喜欢，讨厌的人就觉得太粗犷了。。

据我在reddit上的了解，它就是CXL不做最后2步的染色抛光处理，然后使用皮革的肉面，在上面涂上蜡，就制成了waxed flesh，所以它也是一种耐用的复鞣全粒面皮。

说Dublin之前可以简单说下Essex，这是种植鞣革，据Horween所说用了和马臀同样的鞣制方法，但原材料是牛皮。常见的Essex是原色的，而Dublin则是Essex上蜡上油再经过处理的版本。从我买的Dublin来看，皮面普遍风格原始粗犷，生产纹比较常见。

一家创立比Horween更早的美国皮革厂， 历史 超过150年，主要制造各种原始粗犷的植鞣革。WC在国内的名气很低很低，比一些意大利皮革厂更没存在感，更别说Horween了。我试着在TB搜了搜，结果发现了海觉用这个植鞣革做的6mm厚重口味腰带，看起来旧化效果挺带感。

比较巧的是，Wickett & Craig也有一种名为Latigo的皮，密度很高并且还比较重磅，日本地位很高的Clinch就用过这种Latigo进行手工刷色：

感觉美国除了Horween之外，其他皮厂的名气都一般般了，而且都专注于植鞣革生产，不过 历史 都挺悠久的，比如上面的Wickett & Craig和这里的Hermann Oak。

Hermann Oak 1881年成立，官网上的产品类目主要有马具马缰、皮鞋中底、皮带条，而且，赫尔曼橡树也有Latigo。以前我只知道Horween有Latigo，检索了一番才知道原来大家都有。。。不过赫尔曼橡树的这个Latigo是100%植鞣的，不像Horween的是复合鞣制。

这家美国皮革厂名字的缩写很好记，可以拿来骂人。因为被红翼爸爸收购了，所以S.B Foot的体量相对来说挺大的。

说到iLcea可能知道的人不多，但如果提到Museum Calf，可能知道的人会多一点。iLcea就是生产Museum Calf博物馆小牛皮的皮革厂，成立于1930年代，但后来因为创始人作死而破产了，2014年被另一家意大利皮革公司Gruppo Vecchia Toscana收购。

比较瞩目的一种小牛皮，因为皮面颜色深浅不一、具有斑驳的大理石纹路而出名。最初是给Johh Lobb独家使用，后来慢慢地大家都在用了，而且在官网上iLcea把Museum Calf的名字改成了Radica，并且归到了Box calf这个类目下面。

这个应该算是一个皮革大类了，好几个皮革厂都有这个名字的皮革，我只买过iLcea的Box calf，感觉就是一种密度和光泽度高、褶皱细腻的高品质铬鞣小牛皮。

此外我还买过iLcea的Box铬鞣马皮，拿来做了皮衣，皮面特征和Box calf比较类似，但因为是马皮所以弯折的时候觉得更硬，密度更是夸张到穿不出多少褶子。。。但因为是铬鞣所以整体来说还是可以算比较软的。

此外，偶然在Style Forum上看到iLcea官方账号2014年宣布停产马皮，看来我这个以后可能会升值了。。。

这个厂，玩手工皮具的朋友可能听说过，经常看到的Mirvena Box就是他们生产的。Badalassi Carlo成立了40多年，是意大利植鞣革协会成员。

此外，业内最贵的工装靴——WhiteKloud白云，也有用他们的皮做鞋：

大名鼎鼎的Guidi，是有自家皮革厂的，1896年就成立了。早期只是做着皮革厂该做的工作，而做鞋则是很后面的业务了。

Guidi皮革厂历年的客户也不少，其中大部分都是先锋品牌，比如Carpe Diem，Carol Christian Poell，Rick Owens，Layer-0，Incarnation等等。

Guidi最出名的就是植鞣做旧马皮，质感很棒。

简称CFS，成立于1904年的英国皮厂，比Horween还早一年，但名气没那么大。CFS产品线也非常丰富，其中绒面革做的很不错，是Alden、Viberg、Visvim，还有一些英国一线鞋厂的供应商。

一种绒毛非常细腻的绒面小牛皮。CFS通过精选小牛皮原材料，使用独家鞣制配方制作而成，反面是柔软的绒面，正面是经过苯胺处理的全粒面。根据CFS官网的介绍——“这是我们最好的绒面皮”。

一些高价位的鞋履品牌会使用这种皮，比如Paolo Scafaro、Saint Crispin's、Antonio Meccariello等等。

非洲野生羚羊皮，CFS使用与Janus Calf相同的鞣制方法来处理这种皮，这种鞣制方法可以最大限度保留皮面的自然特性，在此基础上又加入了足量的蜡质，最终的成品具备粒面自然、保留着原皮伤痕的特征，并且结合了高强度与高柔软度。

按我自己的穿着体验，这种皮柔软有韧性，耐操又舒服。刚开始会觉得有点干，但穿了2年期间打理几次，逐渐吸收油蜡之后就会变得很光亮，是一种很有意思的皮。

J&F J.Baker，1862年因为创始人购买了一家皮革厂而成立，目前是英国最后一家还在用橡树进行鞣制皮革的皮厂。很多买皮带的朋友，嘴里说着的JF马缰，就是这个厂出品的。他们的植鞣革，鞣制过程异常漫长，上面介绍H马臀要鞣制6个月，而JF则要鞣制12个月。也难怪他们的皮带条要卖到两三百一根的高价了。

JF马缰的特点就是保留了皮面的原始风格，全粒面的皮革毛孔清晰可见，不像JE那样表层被处理过显得很光亮。不过各有各的好吧，有的人无法接受原始皮面更喜爱看着光亮的，但就皮质而言肯定JF更好点。

除了JF，英国做马缰的皮革厂还有J&E Sedgwick、Clayton、TWS，感觉产品线都很重合，都是各种马缰马具、高端皮中底，就不多说了。

经常提到的日本新禧就是它了，成立也比较早，1951年到现在快70年了。专注于制造马皮、马臀，很多日本品牌的皮衣如FreeWheelers、The Real Mccoy's、Buco用的就是新禧马皮，同时，美国的Himel Bros、Good wear也很喜欢用，Himel Bros的创始人甚至说新禧马皮是世界上最好的皮衣用皮（对此我很存疑。。。把天神枥木、CXL马长条、加州小熊、Guidi马皮都不放在眼里吗？）

除了新禧，日本还有很多小型皮革厂，比如聚集在栃木县的那些，但有些皮厂小到连官网都没有，实在是没法介绍了。这点有点类似于意大利的托斯卡纳地区，那里也有一堆小皮厂，但因为太小，所以很多人就直接叫托斯卡纳皮了。。。

写了这么多，也许有朋友会问，你最推荐什么皮？我想说这个问题没有很好的答案， 不同皮，特性不同价格不同玩法也不同，我觉得只有符合你喜好的才是合适的皮。再说了，我写在文章里面的基本上都是好皮。

有的皮很重磅很硬核，有的皮很油亮，有的皮很舒服，有的皮旧化patina明显，根据自己的喜好来，明白自己到底想要什么，再进行选择就行了。

千万别告诉我你自己都不知道自己想要什么，如果真这样那我只能说：不买立省100%。
